What to Pack When Traveling with Ecigs

by Johny

The most difficult part of any trip is packing a suitcase. If you forget something or reach your destination unprepared for an unexpected event, it could ruin your vacation.

Smokers can afford to leave a lighter behind. You can easily pick one up from convenience stores or gas stations. But if you are using electronic cigarettes, you need to make sure your carry-on bag is filled with all the necessary vaping supplies to last you the entire time you are away on vacation.

Whether you are flying over the Pacific, taking a road trip across the country, or cruising to the Bahamas, make sure you follow this checklist for traveling vapers.

Bring more than one battery so you can alternate recharging your e-cig. Keep in mind that a long battery lasts around one to two days while a short battery will need recharging after around four to six hours depending on the brand. You might want to throw in a disposable e-cigarette or USB cigarette as a backup in case you feel that strong craving while waiting for your batteries to fully recharge.

The one thing you don’t want to forget when packing for a trip is your e-cig battery charger. Consider where you are going and how you are traveling to decide whether it is best to bring a USB charger, a wall/car adapter, or a portable charging case.

If you are going on a road trip, make sure you bring a car charger so you can power up your ecig batteries while you drive. That way you can enjoy vaping the whole trip. If you are traveling with other smokers, include a USB cigarette in your kit so your passengers can vape straight out of the cigarette lighter and save your rechargeable batteries for later use.

Vapers should consider getting a portable charging case before going on a cruise. Unlike airports and cars, ships generally do not have electrical outlets to recharge your e-cig battery. Even if they do, why spend hours sitting around waiting for a battery when you can charge your batteries on the go? Portable charging cases work like a mobile battery pack and can easily fit in a pocket or purse.

Make sure you bring enough cartomizers or clearomizers to last the duration of the trip. If you are using a disposable cartridge, pack at least one cartomizer for each vacation day. If your electronic cigarette has a separate atomizer, at least more than one is recommended so that you can alternate cleaning and refilling

It is best to order cartomizers ahead of time to make sure you have plenty of your favorite e-cig flavors during your trip.

The amount of e-liquid you will want to bring depends on how much you typically use, but take enough bottles to last the whole trip in case you can’t find any along the way or at your destination.

The TSA prohibits passengers from bringing liquids in containers over 100ml in carry-on luggage so be sure your e-juice does not exceed the allowed amount. Fortunately, most e-cig brands sell e-liquid in 10ml, 25ml or 30ml bottles so all you need to do is place them in a Ziplock bag with all of your other liquids to adhere to TSA guidelines.

How to pack your e-cigarette gear

Pack your e-cigs in a bag or purse that you plan to take on the plane with you. Many people are still unfamiliar with vaping and airline employees might throw away your electronic cigarettes if they are stowed in checked luggage.

To make sure you don’t get held up at the security checkpoint, remove the battery from the cartomizer and run the battery through the x-ray machine with all the other small objects in your pocket such as keys, mobile phones, wallets, and belts.

Check the vaping laws in your intended destination as some countries do not allow electronic cigarettes within their borders.
